Sadie and Sunny Sandler Have Feelings About ‘The Chanukah Song’

Now all we need is to see Adam Sandler's daughters perform the iconic comedy song.

Ever since Adam Sandler debuted “The Chanukah Song” on a 1994 episode of “Saturday Night Live,” it’s become an inimitable part of the Hanukkah music canon. In recent years the tune has been remixed by the likes of Nissim Black and Kosha Dillz and updated by Haim. It’s silly. It’s so very 90s. It’s great Jewish representation. What else is there to say that hasn’t already been said?

Well, thanks to the Sandman himself, we finally know what his daughters Sadie and Sunny think about it.

In an interview for his upcoming animated Netflix movie, Sandler fielded a few seasonal questions including, “What do your kids think about [‘The Chanukah Song’]? Are they sick of it at all?”

“The fact that it comes once a year makes it a little less where my kids can get sick of it,” Sandler shared with Access Hollywood, adding, “They’re proud of it too.”

A Humble Request:
Hey Alma's content is free because we believe everybody deserves to be a part of our radically inclusive Jewish community. Reader donations help us do that. Will you give what you can to keep Hey Alma open to all? (It's a mitzvah, ya know.)

The interview is also chock-full of other fun moments, including Sandler talking about how much he loved working with his family on “You’re So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah,” answering whether or not he’s the Mariah Carey of Hanukkah and explaining that Roseanne Barr was originally supposed to perform “The Chanukah Song.” (Baruch Hashem that she did not!)

You can watch it in full below:

Aw! We cannot get over how much Sadie and Sunny love and support their dad, and how much he loves and supports them right back. Now all we need is to see the Sandlers perform “The Chanukah Song” all together. Lorne Michaels, if you’re reading this, make this happen on Weekend Update, pronto!
