All Our Predictions for Season Two of ‘Nobody Wants This’

Joanne secretly converts to Judaism. Morgan and Sasha start their own podcast called "Loser Sibling." And Bina has a reckoning with Noah's relationship.

Editorial note: Spoilers ahead for “Nobody Wants This.”

It turns out we all really, really did want this.

“Nobody Wants This,” the hot rabbi show starring Adam Brody and Kristen Bell, has been renewed for a season two. “Creating ‘Nobody Wants This’ will forever be a career highlight for me,” creator Erin Foster said when it was announced. “The incredible cast, crew, producers and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed.”

In the announcement, Foster revealed that Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who both produced and wrote for “Girls,” were joining the production team as showrunners and executive producers. Additionally, she shared that the writers’ room for season two has already begun.

The news came yesterday as the series has continued to rank at the top of Netflix’s most-watched chart and continues to inspire conversation online. From the positive to the negative, people on social media just can’t seem to stop talking about how hot Adam Brody is, how unfortunately stereotypical the portrayal of Jewish women is, how healthy the relationship between Noah and Joanne is and how complex the portrayal of interfaith relationships is. And, oh yeah, did we mention that people are talking about hot Adam Brody is?!

But now, we at Hey Alma want to steer the conversation towards a new direction: What the heck is going to happen in season two? Season one ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, with Joanne ultimately deciding that she wouldn’t convert to Judaism and Noah deciding he wanted to be with Joanne more than he wanted to be head rabbi (or a rabbi at all). The series finale also showed Bina and Esther conspiring to get Joanne and Morgan out of their lives for good. Meanwhile, Morgan and Sasha have a possibly-healthy-possibly-not-healthy friendship blossoming. And finally, Joanne and Morgan’s podcast seems to be on the up-and-up.

So, without further ado, here are all the predictions for season two of “Nobody Wants This,” courtesy of the editors at Hey Alma and Kveller.

“There’s a lot of comedic potential in a plot line where Joanne decides she does actually want to convert but does it secretly because she doesn’t want Noah to think she’s changing for him.”

With Noah deciding to not take the head rabbi job, and maybe not even be a rabbi at all anymore, he’s going to have an identity crisis. Who is Noah Roklov if not a rabbi? And who is he in this relationship if not The Hot Rabbi? This is going to cause some issues in his relationship with Joanne. Ultimately, I can see a season two that ends with Noah deciding that he can both be with Joanne and be a rabbi, and Joanne actually deciding to convert because that’s true to Erin Foster’s life. (Though I think there’s a lot of comedic potential in a plot line where Joanne decides she does actually want to convert but does it secretly because she doesn’t want Noah to think she’s changing for him.) For Morgan, they’ll focus this next season on her love life and dating prospects, which could potentially cause friction with her friendship with Sasha. Maybe they’ll introduce Morgan’s ex-husband to cause problems and she’ll lean on Sasha too much, which Esther will hate. But most of all, I would love to see Bina on the podcast telling wild stories from her youth.

“Miriam is going to go goth and renounce Judaism.”

Morgan and Rebecca love match???

Miriam is going to go goth and renounce Judaism.

Esther will become the third co-host of the podcast and they’ll start selling “Whore 1” and “Whore 2” merch.

When she finds out Noah is still dating Joanne, Bina stops talking to him. When she finds out that Ilan has been secretly getting lunches with Noah and Joanne behind her back, they go through a temporary separation. During that separation Bina goes on a date with a thick-necked gentile.

Canter’s Deli scene.

Joanne and Morgan get the Spotify deal but then Joanne freaks out and backs out, so Morgan and Sasha start a podcast instead called “Loser Sibling.”

“I wonder if Bina will have a reckoning of sorts now that Noah is showing how far he is willing to go for his relationship with Joanne. It’d be interesting and I think important to try to show more nuances to her character.”

There’s no way Noah’s giving up on being a rabbi, and I think his passion for his job is something that Joanne fell for, so it doesn’t make sense for this relationship to work if he doesn’t have this thing driving him. I do hope that we get more of Rebecca, it would be lovely to see her pick up the pieces of her life — she had such a vision for it that she was so relentless in pursuing (I mean, the stealing of the ring!). Will she too find another love? I really hope so. I really want scenes with her and Esther because that friendship feels very special to me. I wonder if Bina will have a reckoning of sorts now that Noah is showing how far he is willing to go for his relationship with Joanne; it would be interesting and I think important to try to show more nuances to her character. I think next season needs to have a Jewish holiday scene — it doesn’t make sense to have two seasons of a Jewish show with zero Jewish holidays (I know Shabbat is technically one, but).

“They’re going to come up with a tidy backstory for why Joanne, who grew up in LA presumably around many Jews, knows literally nothing about Judaism.”

Maybe Esther and Joanne will go to the mikvah together eventually. I think they’re going to end up being friends. They’re going to come up with a tidy backstory for why Joanne, who grew up in LA presumably around many Jews, knows literally nothing about Judaism. Joanne will start her own podcast called Call Her Shiksa.

“It would be fun for Joanne to totally have a crisis about not being able to podcast anymore now that she’s in a happy relationship.”

I think it would be nice if Noah and Joanne met an interfaith couple who are happy. Oh, and if they make Sasha cheat with Morgan I will lose my mind, but I do fear it’s going that way. Also, it would be fun for Joanne to totally have a crisis about not being able to podcast anymore now that she’s in a happy relationship — like if we saw a bit of a mirror to the season one “Oh no, can Noah be a rabbi and have this girl?” What if some of season two is Joanne being like “Oh no, can I be a sex and relationship podcaster and have this boy?”
